SCHOOL PROGRAM

WHAT WE DO

 

ZMI Foundation’s After School Program is geared to serve as educational support for children at every level. The Tae Kwon Do Values implemented by our sister Tae Kwon Do studio, Zen Masters, is at the heart of our After School Program. We seek to serve learners of all backgrounds, enhancing their ability to focus, affirming the importance of their schoolwork, and embracing their own role in the learning process.

 

HOW WE DO IT

 

Directly after school, Monday through Friday, we provide students with the opportunity to strengthen their minds as well as their bodies. We teach children in a classroom environment (utilizing the facilities of local school P.S. 36), and engage them in activities as well as homework assistance and tutoring. When the academic portion of the day ends, we transition to martial arts instruction. Through the balance of mental and physical stimulation, we both challenge and help children grow every afternoon. ZMI Foundation is committed to serving students and families of all backgrounds, we accept a variety of after school care vouchers or subsidies provided by employers (i.e. local 1199 SEIU Child Care Fund, Verizon, etc.), the Human Resources Administration, or the Administration for Children’s Services. 

 

PROGRAM FOCUS

 

• Provide a safe learning environment where children can express their ideas and opinions.

 

• Assist children with their homework.

 

• Provide children with a nutritious snack daily.

 

• Provide time for extra curricular enrichment.

 

• Provide children with a one-hour martial arts class daily.

 

• Encourage creative and outside-of-the-box thinking through weekly Chess/Arts and Crafts sessions.
